Join 103.7 WSOC & Tanner as we help the homeless animals in our community find new and wonderful homes. Each week, we'll post Tanner's featured Pets of the Week. If you are interested in adopting one of these amazing animals, please contact the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Control Bureau, located at 8315 Byrum Drive in Charlotte. Call 311 or click here for more information! View Tanner's Pets of the Week!
Click here to see the Stanley County pets that are available for adoption. The adoption fee is $75 for dogs and $80 for cats which includes spay/neuter, up to date shots, and de-worming, also feline leukemia test for cats. The shelter is open Mon. - Fri. 9:30 - 4:00 and Sat. 10:00 - 12:00 noon. It is located at 1037 Coble Ave. (off Hwy 24/27 Bypass) in Albemarle, NC (35 miles east of Charlotte). The adoptions are first come, first served. They won't hold the dogs for you. If you want to adopt any of these dogs, you would pay for the dog at the shelter. The shelter would take the dog to the vet usually the following morning and you would pick the dog up at the vet's office the afternoon after surgery. For more information or rescue group information call Sharon Gadd with Stanly County Humane Society (704) 791-4096 or e-mail JSGadd@aol.com or volunteer Wanda Dahl: Home 704-888-3245 or e-mail wandadahl@bellsouth.net . These contacts do not work at the shelter, but can give information about the dogs and how to get there. Please do not call the shelter.
Each month 103.7 WSOC's Rob Tanner will visit a different school and read to kids in grades Kindergarten through 2nd grade! If you are interested in having Tanner come to YOUR school and read to your class, send Tanner and email at tanner@wsocfm.com. Good luck!
Tanner's Troopers
Tanner encourages kids ages 3 through 12, weekdays, Monday-Friday, to call in to the Tanner in the Morning Show, (704) 570-WSOC, (9762), or 800-522-WSOC, (9762) and recite the Pledge of Allegiance! All kids will win a "Tanner's Troopers" t-shirt, and some really cool 103.7 WSOC prizes from our prize vault!
Helping Heroes
Every Thursday morning during the Tanner in the Morning Show, the Morning Crew will choose and read one heartfelt letter from a local loyal listener and/or their family who are facing really tough times and are in need of a specific item. Items requested have ranged from tools to yarn! Tanner will do his best and ask the community to come together and help the selected person/persons in the chosen letter. All letters should be directed to Tanner at tanner@wsocfm.com.
